Start your own Christmas traditions with festive

hanging ornaments and figurines

Christmas is a time for traditions.  In my family we have a lot of them, and we make a point of keeping them alive.  They’re a way for us to enjoy the holidays together, share in the wonder and promise of the season, and maybe most importantly, have a lot of fun!  And they don’t have to be big parties or lavish celebrations.  They’re often the little things, like decorating the tree, singing a carol or two, or sitting down to watch a favorite Disney movie.   They’re really a way for us to share time together, maybe the most wonderful Christmas gift of all!

One of the most gratifying parts of being an artist is that, in some small way, my work can become part of another family’s Christmas traditions.  When children set up a Nativity I designed, or a family decorates a tree with my ornaments, it’s like they’ve invited me over for Christmas dinner!  That’s really what I aim for in my art, making that connection with people who enjoy what I do.  Here’s a few thoughts on new designs created with that in mind, a way to maybe build some new holiday traditions, ones that can last through the years.

Trimming the tree:

Trimming the tree is a time-honoured Christmas tradition, with lights, garland and most importantly ornaments!  The best Christmas ornaments have a story.  When they’re pulled out of the box someone says Aunt Judy gave us that, or we got that at Disneyworld, or that one used to belong to Grandma Pat.  Often they remind us of a loved one, separated by time or space.  There’s always some sort of familiar tale told as they go on the tree.  And that’s usually followed by someone saying I’ve always loved that Angel, or Santa, or Snowman or whatever.  Here a few ornaments I treasure, pieces that have a special meaning to me, and that have a story to tell.  You can probably guess why.

Two of my all-time favorites draw inspiration from the very first Christmas,  A Star Shall Guide Us and the Nativity Star.   Both of these ornaments cost just £16.00 and feature the iconic Biblical scene of the first Noel. These handcrafted designs are presented in a gift box, making them the perfect gift for family and friends as a reminder of the story at the heart of the season.

Fun for all the family:

Young people (and those young at heart too) just love Disney. So why not work in some of my Disney Traditions Christmas tree hanging ornaments into your very own traditions?  They become family heirlooms year after year, and can be passed down through the different generations as time goes by.  Just imagine your children decorating their Christmas tree with their grandchildren, using the same decorations that you once decorated your tree with them, in 10, 15 or even 20 years’ time.

Take a look at my Disney Traditions Eeyore with Red Present Hanging Ornament or Tigger Hanging Ornament. In addition to tree decorations, your family - today and further down the line - are bound to love my standing ornaments too. Be sure to check out my Merry Mickey Mouse Figurine and the coordinating Merry Minnie Mouse Figurine.

A time for celebration:

The holiday season can be hectic.  And that can be part of the fun!  But there’s a something to be said for peace, for quiet moments of gratitude and contemplation that add so much to the season.  That’s part of our tradition too.  And it’s why I love Christmas Eve, after the kids have gone to bed and everything’s set up for the morning.  It’s a moment of beauty and counting blessings that I treasure.

One of the things I’m most grateful for this year is the 15th anniversary of Heartwood Creek.  It’s the culmination of a lifetime of hard work, and an association with so many fine people who have touched me and influenced my art.  To mark the occasion, I’ve introduced a commemorative piece for Christmas.  I think this Santa with Christmas Garland Musical captures a 15 year tradition of sharing the art that I love with all of you.  He’s beautifully handcrafted and decorated with genuine Swarovski crystals, giving him a little extra sparkle to mark the occasion! And just for good measure he’s also a wind-up music box and plays Deck the Halls when you turn the key behind Father Christmas’ long flowing red coat.  For only £65.00, I believe this Santa design embodies the best of Heartwood Creek, an heirloom that any collector will treasure for years to come.

Of course, the Santa with Christmas Garland Musical works perfectly with the other Father Christmas figurines in my range. Why not add to your Christmas collection and help to give your home decorations a new look this Noel?
