About Jim Shore
Creator of Heartwood Creek and Disney Traditions
Growing up in rural South Carolina, Jim Shore was the son of artistic parents who instilled a love of American folk-art. With his grandmother being a master quilter, she passed on the skills of patience and attention to details which help with bringing intricate designs to life.
Jim worked for decades developing his craft, manufacturing his own designs and travelling the US to sell his work. Finally in 2001, he partnered with Enesco and created 'Heartwood Creek', the brand that brought Jim world-wide fame and a legion of fans.
With his unmistakeable style that combines a diverse colour palette with timeless designs drawn from images of American and European folk-art, Jim has become a legend within the giftware industry. His pieces include designs from traditional quilting, rosemaling and tole painting and his fresh interpretations of these time-honoured motifs have led to successful partnerships. Over the years Jim has had successful partnerships with Disney®, Peanuts®, The Grinch® and a variety of Warner Bros.® brands.
Over the past twenty years with Enesco and various different awards, the Jim Shore collection has grown from a small group of santas, snowmen and angels, to a vast year-round brand that is beloved and respected world-wide. His collections house everything from eye-catching statues, festive hanging ornaments and sweet mini figurines, with characters from Santa Claus to Mickey Mouse, Jim has created something for everyone.
'Art is something I’ve done all my life. It’s what I’ve always loved and the only think I ever wanted to do…Not only do I get to do what I love; I get to share it with people around the world…' Jim Shore
